fruitful investment for
John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd

Leading independent fruit and vegetable wholesaler John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd has become one of the latest firms to incorporate a Tony Team TT550 Baler into its business operation, a clever piece of kit which not only compacts paper and cardboard waste, but also generates an additional income for the Derbyshire based company.

John Palin, located in Tansley, Derbyshire distributes fresh produce to counties within a 150 mile radius. The company has grown considerably over recent years, currently producing a turnover in excess of £11 million. As business has increased, so has the volume of cardboard packaging used; something the company has chosen to address for both environmental and financial reasons.
The installation of Tony Team's TT550 Baler has made sound business sense for the firm. By using this mill sized baler to reduce the volume of all packaging cardboard and office paper that can no longer be re-used, John Palin is able to save the cost and eliminate the potential hazard of using skips on site, and furthermore, is now generating an additional profit by selling the bales to paper and card recycling merchants.
"The Tony Team Baler is a terrific piece of equipment - a company investment which is actually paying for itself" said director, David Newton.
"Our waste storage is significantly improved and we are now also able to sell the mill sized cardboard bales for recycling. Other local companies are approaching us to bale their cardboard for a charge, so we're not only helping the environment, but also making extra profit.
"Incorporating the baler into our business practice has proved extremely beneficial for generating new business, as increasingly our customers require improved environmental credentials, with waste recycling being high on the agenda."
John Palin is saving approximately £260 a month in skip hire fees and generating an impressive £400 a month in revenue from selling its baled card for recycling - a fruitful venture that's also environmentally sound.
