Integrating the Food Chain
A progressive, innovative and profitable business, which operates in the best interests of its customers, employees and growers, the AKP Group was first established just eight years ago in 1999, and in that short time has enjoyed tremendous growth, today boasting a £20 million turnover.

Indeed, it has developed into one of the leading independent potato and onion marketing businesses in the UK, providing some of Europe's leading retail, processing and food manufacturing businesses with quality potatoes and onions from its dedicated grower base across Europe.

One of the main strengths of the AKP Group is that it provides a vertically integrated supply chain, incorporating several businesses and a grower base that is surely one of the finest and most quality conscious in the industry. Consequently, the company is not just a middleman, living the crop on a daily basis and growing 20,000 tonnes of potatoes per annum itself, marketing 100,000 tonnes in total.

Perhaps its core strength, however, is in the quality and scale of the growing operations to which the AKP Group's marketing operations are dedicated. Moreover, it is always looking to work more closely with progressive, forward thinking quality growers.

Offering 52-week continuity, the AKP Group has control over everything from seed production through to final delivery of product via its own modern fleet of vehicles. What's more, its business interests include Yorkshire Onions Limited, a leading onion production, grading and marketing business, AKP (East Anglia) Limited, from where the UK export division is located, and Healthfresh Foods Limited, a £3 million dedicated vegetable processing facility. It has also recently acquired Curbington Potato Services, which is a storage and grading business. The AKP Group used to sub-contract much of this work out, but has now brought it all in-house.

The AKP Group's clients are most definitely blue chip, with the company supplying some of the UK leading retailers, potato processors and food manufacturers.

Healthfresh Foods, for instance, supplies the UK's leading food manufacturers with the finest quality prepared root vegetables for use as ingredients in the dynamic and fast growing 'ready meal' and food service market place. Healthfresh Foods is fortunate to be supplied by a select group of the UK's leading root vegetable and brassica producers which ensures that all of the produce delivered to our customers meets the highest standards of food traceability and environmental responsibility.

Active in all sectors of the market, the AKP Group has considerable room for growth too, and, having invested substantially in new equipment and machinery, is set to reap the rewards of its confidence in what is a fiercely competitive industry.
