Operational by May 2008, this exciting
project will see the current Christian Salvesen site
on the Brighton Street industrial estate transformed
with the addition of a new factory. The Factory is currently
being built and is capable of handling more than 50,000
tonnes of frozen peas each year. It strengthens the
existing partnership between the two companies and provides
cold storage, distribution and processing services for
Birds Eye.
Quality Service From Quality People
Birds Eye, as one of the most well known and popular
brands in the UK, expects market leading world class
quality and a high standard of logistical expertise
- and that is exactly what Christian Salvesen provides.
Indeed, it already supplies a number of high quality
value-added logistics and processing services to Birds
Eye, and this new contract demonstrates its commitment
to one of its most valued clients.
The new factory will equate to a staggering one million
domestic freezers once it is up and running and, as
you would expect of a company of Birds Eye's stature,
the factory will set a new standard for the industry
and underline Birds Eye's commitment to the marketplace.
A Proven Track Record
Birds Eye and Christian Salvesen have a strong partnership
that currently also encompasses processing and cold
storage facilities in Lowestoft; an operation that has
been working successfully for more than seven years.
Peter Wilkinson, General Manager for Christian Salvesen's
Lowestoft and Hull sites, explains: "Our relationship
with Birds Eye goes back over 30 years. We have a proven
track record, and we are delighted with this 10 year
processing contract. It is a long period of time; it
is unlikely that there are many 10 year contracts around
within the industry."
Birds Eye, considered to be one of the founders of the
modern frozen food industry and a very progressive business,
is renowned for continually raising the bar, and in
Christian Salvesen has a partner with the same philosophy.
Consequently, this £10 million investment in a
brand new state-of-the-art factory, designed to secure
the best quality peas from this excellent growing area,
is yet another major step forwards for Birds Eye, with
Christian Salvesen proud to be able to supply its own
specialist expertise for the project.
