The survey was carried out by YouGov for Marketing Week magazine and was published this month (June 2007). The study probed the views of 1,132 adults who are members of its online panel and sought to establish ‘who is the greenest brand of all?’
The findings show that ‘deep green’ brands such as The Body Shop, Ecover and organic brand Whole Earth vie with leading supermarkets for top slots in the new ranking.
Questioned about attitudes to the environment the three supermarkets saw Tesco, Co-op and M&S highly ranked — followed by top individual organic producers, Rachel’s Organic and Green & Black’s.
Meanwhile airlines were seen as companies with the most unfriendly approach to the environment. British Airways took the unenviable first place, followed by American Airlines.
