country products is nuts about allen coding
Six Allen Coding Jaguar II printers set to increase efficiency and enhance print quality for contract packer as part of plant revamp

Underlining some £250,000 investment in its 10,000 sq ft North Yorkshire-based plant, contract packer Country Products has recently ordered a total of six Allen Coding Systems' a division of ITW - Jaguar II printers as part of its re designed packaging lines handling bags of dried fruit, nuts and snack products. The high performance Jaguar II 52i and 106i models will be installed on three vertical form fill seal machines where they will apply vital front and back of pack information to printed laminate film - replacing traditional self adhesive labels.

Each of the three vertical form fill seal machines will be fitted with a Jaguar 106i and 52i unit mounted on 90 degree swivel heads specially designed to ensure accurate positioning of information. The two Allen Coding systems will operate in tandem for high speed application of variable details, including barcodes, nutritional panels, ingredients, batch numbers and barcodes directly on to film. The new printers will be networked and help boost output from 20 to approximately 40 bags per minute.

"Increasing customer demand prompted us to re evaluate existing packaging processes and systems, including the way we label our products," comments Nigel Robertshaw, Production Manager, Country Products. "The most important issue for us was to boost efficiency and print quality, which is why we choose Allen Coding's Jaguar II printers. The company took time to understand our business and provided great advice and information.

Nigel continues: "As a family-run business, we don't want to deal with 'sell and leave' companies, preferring to build long term relationships with our suppliers. From what we've seen so far, I'm sure this will be the case with Allen Coding."

Allen Coding's Jaguar II 52i coder reproduces bar and source codes, real time information, sell-by dates, batch numbers, graphics, and prices. It offers a print area of 52mm x 80mm and speeds up to 250mm per second or 350 prints per minute.

In addition, the company's advanced Jaguar II 106i intermittent printer is designed to print onto film or labels in the forming stages of production. The unit completes its product cycle during the product filling stage of packing. The 106i prints a variety of information, including nutrition panels, ingredients, graphics and logos. This system offers a print area of 106mm x 125mm and speeds up to 200mm per second or 300 prints per minute.

Country Products specialises in the packaging, sale and manufacture of high quality food products for the grocery, health food, convenience and delicatessen sector.

Allen Coding Systems is currently celebrating 30 years as a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality coding & marking equipment. As a thermal transfer and hot foil specialist, Allen Coding supplies an ever expanding customer base across a broad range of markets, including food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetics.

Acquired by ITW's Norwood Marking Systems in February 2006, the long-established Allen brand continues to be recognised as one of the major players within the packaging industry.
