At a time when so many products on supermarket shelves have the warning ‘may contain traces of nuts’, shopping for wholesome, safe food for nut allergy sufferers is becoming more and more difficult.
One food manufacturer who knows more than most about the importance of safe, nut free food is businesswoman Angela Russell. Angela founded her company, It's Nut Free, in 2002 after struggling for years to buy suitable products after her daughter Kirsty was diagnosed with a nut allergy.
Based in North Yorkshire, It's Nut Free manufactures an impressive range of products including cakes, confectionery, flapjacks and biscuits which are all made to traditional family recipes using only the best quality ingredients.
No unnecessary additives or preservatives are used - and as well as being nut free, products are egg and seed free too and suitable for vegetarians. Angela finds that it is not just nut allergy sufferers who enjoy her products, they are popular with anyone looking for a tasty, wholesome snack.
Earlier this year the company moved to an impressive new factory which will allow room for expansion as demand continues to grow. New products are constantly being developed and a delicious new Apricot and Raisin Baked Bar which offers a lower fat, lower sugar option will be available very soon.
Commenting on the steps taken to ensure the safety of products Angela said: "Our factory is a completely nut free site and all staff go through an intensive induction and are not even allowed to eat peanuts in the 24 hours prior to them coming on shift. We check out all our suppliers to ensure any products they supply us are guaranteed nut free.
It's Nut Free stockists include Sainsbury's, Morrisons, independent retailers and health food shops, or they can be purchased online. It's Nut Free stockists include Sainsbury's, Morrisons, independent retailers and health food shops, or they can be purchased online.
