In a series of prestigious
events located in the grounds of four of
England's most beautiful stately homes and
gardens, around 2000 Arco employees and customers
were given a taste of how Arco retains its
reputation as the nation's experts in safety.
Caroline Wilson, Marketing Communications Manager for Arco explained, "Arco's
position as the UK's leading supplier in health and safety products and services
is built on our expertise in helping customers understand health and safety issues
and government legislation, our ability to give customers sound advice on the
most suitable products to keep their workforce safe, and our ability to deliver
the biggest range of health and safety products and workwear in the UK."
"It is important for all our staff to fully understand exactly what Arco
can offer, whether they work in head office, as part of the sales force, in our
distribution centre or at one of our 34 branches. Each year, new safety products
are added to the 16,000 already featured in our catalogue, the Big Red Book,
so to help Arco people keep on top of the latest advice, issues and product innovations,
and to coincide with the launch of our 2007-8 catalogue in September, we invited
our staff and customers to attend one of four Arco Experiences in September and
October. The location of the four regional events in Surrey, Scotland, the Midlands
and Derbyshire facilitated easy attendance by staff and customers from all areas
of the UK."
Each event featured keynote speakers Nina Wrightson: Chair of the British Safety
Council, and Steve Walter from EEF, The Manufacturers Association, two of the
UK's most trusted safety organisations. The events also featured live product
demonstrations from twenty-eight manufacturers of safety products and workwear;
presentations from Arco's Joint Managing Directors Jo Martin and Thomas Martin,
and Sales & Marketing Director Neil Jowsey, and professionally dramatised
health and safety scenarios.
A two-way partnership
The Arco Experience was a win-win situation for all concerned, giving vendors
the opportunity to brief up to 300 visitors a day on the features and benefits
of their products, and Arco employees and customers the chance to find out all
about what's new in the industry.
At the Eastern (Chatsworth Estate) Arco Experience, Nigel Brancker, Manager of
Arco's Bradford branch, said, "This is a great way to discover the unique
selling points of both branded and Arco own-brand safety products. It is particularly
useful to find out what kind of applications new products are most suited to,
so that the sales force can go out and advise the right customers about product
innovations specific to their industry."
Mike McLoughlin from Dunlop commented, "Through Arco we sell around 100,000
products a year. It's all about education. The Arco Experience allows us to educate
and train the Arco sales staff over a four-week period. I would definitely do
it again. Arco is very good at putting on this type of event - within the health
and safety industry, they are the best."
Marigold gloves have featured in the Big Red Book since it began in 2001. John
Thorn, who took part in one of the dramatised scenarios, said, "Arco is
a progressive company and the Big Red Book is known as the industry bible. As
a key supplier, we are very pleased to give The Arco Experience our support."
