ALLEN CODING SYSTEMS LAUNCHES 55SST THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTER

Innovative 'Instant Change' option allows advanced new system to be switched for intermittent OR continuous motion printing. Strengthening its position in the advancement of coding and marking technology, Allen Coding Systems (tel: 01707 379500) - part of ITW and the UK's leading designer and manufacturer of thermal transfer and hot foil coding and marking equipment - has launched its compact 55ssT thermal transfer printer aimed at the food, cosmetics, chemical and pharmaceutical markets.

For added flexibility, the system's efficient 'instant change' option allows it to be quickly and easily switched for intermittent or continuous motion printing.

The new 55ssT thermal transfer printer incorporates market-leading electronics and software specially developed by Allen Coding Systems to ensure high speed performance and unrivalled responsiveness to speed changes. In addition, the elimination of most ribbon handling wear parts means no adjustment and less maintenance is required.

Ideal for reproducing a broad range of information, including bar codes, real time, sell-by dates, batch numbers, graphics, and prices, the 55ssT offers a print area of 53mm x 80mm when in intermittent mode, and 53mm x 125mm while operating continuously. It provides a print resolution of 12 dots per mm and runs at prints speeds up to 400mm per second (intermittent) and 750mm per second (continuous).

"Allen Coding Systems leads the industry in coding and marking technology," comments Craig Stevenson, Operations Manager, Allen Coding Systems. "This is reflected by the newly-launched 55ssT printer which has been purpose designed to increase production efficiencies while reducing operating costs and maintenance requirements."

Underlining its ease of use, Allen Coding Systems' 55ssT offers a choice of three user interface options, including TFT colour touch screen with intuitive operating system, optional print design PC software, and self latching magazine for fast offline ribbon loading.

In addition, the compact 55ssT can be easily adapted to fit most packaging and labelling machines, and the choice of direct PC control, handset or full colour touch screen allows for complete integration or stand-alone functionality. An optional flash memory card allows data transfer and memory extension.

The printer also incorporates several levels of password protection and a non-tamper automatic code change option for elimination of operator error, as well as IP65 rated user interfaces and control unit. The 55ssT thermal transfer printer is backed by a comprehensive 24/7 service and support of the pan-European Allen Coding Systems' customer service and support teams.

Allen Coding Systems has been designing and manufacturing high quality overprinting equipment for 30 years. As one of UK's leading manufacturers of hot foil and thermal transfer coding systems, Allen supplies companies in a wide range of markets, including food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetics. Acquired by ITW's Norwood Marking Systems of Chicago in February 2006, the Allen brand continues to be recognised as one of the major players within the packaging industry.
