The company’s partner in this venture
is Bradford-based specialist National Flexible,
whose biodegradable flow-wrap has all the
characteristics of standard film. It offers
high clarity and good tensile strength but
contains an additive which causes it to break
down after disposal.
The material works in a similar way to
that of environmentally-friendly carrier
bags and will disintegrate into carbon-dioxide,
water and organic residue within 18 months
of disposal.

The new packaging is part of a major re-branding
programme launched in October by Proper Cornish
Ltd, a Bodmin-based firm. The range is now
available at Sainsbury’s and other leading
supermarkets.
