Frozen and chilled palletised foods account for over 99% of approximately in excess of 22,000 pallets per week passing through its operations, with the company offering collections from factories (or other cold storage locations), frozen or chilled storage (if required), and final delivery to over 1300 customers.
The business comprises two main divisions.
Chillnet
This is the name for Langdons’ service that delivers to wholesalers, food service depots and manufacturing locations. Typically, consignments of just one or two pallets of frozen or chilled food products are collected on day 1 and delivered day 2 anywhere on the UK mainland: add one day for Ireland (north and south)
This is achieved by networking Langdons’ depots in Taunton, Luton, Peterborough, Redditch, Dover and Liverpool, as well as partner depots in Newcastle, Glasgow, Moy (Northern Ireland) and Limerick (Republic of Ireland). Most of these depots are connected directly with each other overnight using dual temperature, 26 pallet capacity articulated vehicles.
The food industry is constantly trying to reduce inventory levels in the supply chain. For those companies operating in the non major multiple retail sector, Chillnet provides the solution – as over 1200 customers can testify.
RDC Deliveries
Langdons’ modern Bridgwater depot is the hub for its chilled service to major multiple retailer Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) throughout the UK. From this site there are daily departures seven days per week going to most of the RDCs. Orders received as late as 16.00 can be picked and despatched overnight and be on shelf the next day, thereby meeting the exacting demands of the UK major multiple retailers.
