Barrel Booze first opened its doors for business in 2000, and in the very beginning was committed to supporting local pubs, clubs and retailers in its home area of Luton. Such was the company’s level of customer service, however, that it expanded rapidly, achieving a turnover of £4 million in around just two years … and then it really began to take off!
In fact, it was in 2004 that Barrel Booze decided to develop and build up a core range of its own brands, which meant finding a whole raft of collaborators, including of course suppliers. It was an inspired decision, with the company quickly creating a portfolio of products in demand throughout the length and breadth of the UK. It has launched a range of premium Belgian lagers under the Luxus brand, for instance, as well as a new Indian beer called Murree 1860, which has an amazing heritage, with the brewery originally established in 1860 to serve the British Raj in India.
Barrel Booze’s selection of wines is just as special too, including Versare (marketed as the affordable Italian luxury), Pacific Heights from California, and Auction House from Australia. Whatever their geographical source, though, all of these wines have one thing in common, incredible quality at a highly competitive price point.
It will come as no surprise therefore to discover that Barrel Booze has now grown to become a £15 million turnover business, serving the independent sector with a portfolio of products that is both unique and in great demand.
