Current Process :
Time-Consuming
Structural pre-cast concrete is used more and more
in the production of building components these
days. Examples include pre-formed garages, exterior
cladding, stadium seating, elevator shafts, pipes
and septic tanks to name just a few. During the
construction process, structural and architectural
elements such as weld plates, wood, plastic and
foam reveals, foam knock-outs, electrical boxes
and so on, need to be laid out and positioned in
the moulds, prior to pouring in the concrete. These
parts are usually held in place with double sided
tape, solvent based contact adhesives, silicones,
bolts or nails.
New Process Faster, Lower Cost and Safer
Power Adhesives has developed a new bonding system
that speeds up the process, reduces cost, is
easier to work with and eliminates solvents from
the factory. The TECBOND adhesive is a hot melt
cartridge that is applied to the component using
a special TEC industrial glue gun. The molten
adhesive can be sprayed or applied as a bead
or dot, it bonds almost immediately and is easily
cleaned from the form after use without staining.
No Primer But Superior Stength
What's more, a special TECBOND adhesive will even
bond when applied over form oils and requires
no primer. These adhesives have been designed
to give superior shear strength to prevent elements
moving in the mould as the concrete is flowing.
Power Adhesives claims that its new adhesive
system is helping companies globally utilize new
materials, set forms faster and produce parts less
expensively. Further details can be obtained by
